We're proud and excited to finally share what we've been working on for the past 6 weeks.

Bucket — the next generation file management tool. A fresh new take on how you manage your files which removes the managing part from file management. Bucket takes care of it for you.

No more file chaos. No more worrying about where to save files and how to name them in order to find them later. Just put them into Bucket, and it'll find them for you when you need them.

We believe in shipping fast, so therefore we're quietly launching Bucket, even though it's very much still WIP. 🚧

You can start using the prerelease version of Bucket today by signing up.

Using the prerelease version is free of charge and you can use it anywhere (smartphone, tablet, PC, Mac), it's a web application.

Disclaimer: keep in mind that the prerelease version comes without any guarantees (because we haven't had time to establish any yet). You may use it, but at your own risk. (See terms of service and privacy policy.)

Don't trust it with sensitive information as we can't ensure your privacy. For now, we recommend using the application only for information that you don't mind if someone else sees by accident.

Features and functionality

At the time of writing this, you can

  • PUT files into Bucket
    • with optional text comment
  • ASK about files in Bucket
    • casually chat with the Bucket AI about your most recent query

This is only the beginning. We'll be continuously rolling out new features, improvements and bug fixes as development progresses. On our roadmap, some of the bigger, highly prioritized items, that you're likely to see in the near future, are:

  • support for different languages, multilingual support
  • support for not just files, but other types of information as well, such as links, for example
  • user intent inference
    • eliminating the need for explicit modes (PUT, ASK)
  • location awareness
    • "that file I gave you when I was at work"
  • device awareness
    • "the picture I uploaded from my phone"
  • image previews, inline audio and video players, document thumbnails, link previews

Limitations

  • 1GB storage limit
  • 50MB file size limit
  • Max. 5 files per message

Besides that, there are no limitations (yet). We'll know more when we hit the first free tier limit of some cloud provider. And you'll notice what works and what doesn't work (yet) when you get an error. Be sure to let us know if something you expected to work, or you would have liked if it had worked, didn't work.

Feedback and data

(Especially) in the prerelease version we'll be collecting and analyzing usage data to gain insight into how people are actually using our app.

We also really appreciate your direct feedback and thoughts. If there's some feature that you wish that the app would have or if you encounter a bug, don't hesitate to reach out to us! There's a "Give feedback" button in the top-left corner of the app which lets you send feedback or bug reports straight to us.

We can't wait to discover all the different ways that people will use Bucket to make their lives easier. Stay tuned for updates. This is the start of something big. 🚀
